in accordance with Law 131/2002 on Higher Education, Law 552/2003 on Public Service Employment, and the university’s selection principles for university teachers, researchers, and senior officials, announces a recruitment process for the following position:
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Department of Glass processing, Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glasses
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Glass Science, Ceramics, or a closely related field is required.
- Strong background in glass and refractory materials, particularly in high-temperature interactions between glass melts and refractory materials.
- Experience in the corrosion and degradation of refractory materials used in glass-melting environments, including experimental evaluation under static and/or dynamic conditions.
- Experience in materials characterization and analysis, such as SEM-EDS, XRD, optical microscopy, chemical analysis, and evaluation of microstructural and phase changes.
- Experience in additive manufacturing of inorganic materials, particularly Direct Ink Writing (DIW), and preparation of ceramic or refractory structures is an advantage.
- Experience with industry-oriented research and collaborative R&D projects is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively in an international research team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fundamental and applied research in glass processing, including preparation, development, and advanced material characterization, aligned with the project's research directions.
- Actively seek research funding to support and expand the centre’s research agenda.
- Foster collaborations with industrial partners and academic institutions both nationally and internationally.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.
- Publish research findings in high-impact journals and present at scientific conferences.
- Contribute to preparing and managing research proposals, scientific publications, technical reports, and analysing complex scientific challenges.
