Hub Innovation Chair
The position is created in the frame of a new Horizon Europe project HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ACCESS-04 # 101087154 GlaCerHub – ‘Glass-ceramic innovation ecosystem for implementation of new research directions in applications’ coordinated by prof. Dušan Galusek. The project aims to support the virtuous innovation and economic cycle by capitalizing on the present-day competitive advantage of the advanced glass and ceramics industry to create a place-based innovation ecosystem in the border region between South Moravia (Czech Republic), and Trenčín (Slovakia).
Position:
The candidate must possess proven leadership skills needed to successfully convert basic research into commercially viable results. The candidate will act as a leader in the preparation and execution of high-stakes disruptive innovation concepts in the field of advanced materials and technologies. Professional background in materials chemistry, materials technology, chemical engineering, materials physics, biochemistry, or similar, is required.
The portfolio of Innovation Chair activities will benefit from the engagement of relevant research infrastructures at FunGlass, at CEITEC, Brno University of Technology as the main project partner, and at other consortium partners. The Hub Innovation Chair will be relieved of the administrative and project administration tasks that will be handled by the Hub Office staff. He/she will mentor the business development officers, whose primary task will be to initiate new collaborations and identify opportunities to intensify existing collaborations that will be further exploited in projects coordinated by the Hub Innovation Chair. The Innovation Chair will answer directly to the Director of the FunGlass Centre (the position is at the same level as the position of Head of Department).
Desired skills:
- IPR savvy person to provide leadership in the development of IPR portfolio,
- track record of project-based collaboration with industry to progress low TRL concepts (TRL1-TRL3) into advanced phase (TRL5+) on a journey towards commercial exploitation,
- ability to coordinate contract-based collaboration with industry.
Offer:
We offer you a full-time, open-ended contract. This is a new position, and it is available immediately. The position offers a competitive salary (comparable to the ERA Chair position) with the aim of attracting an experienced innovator with a relevant background. The duration of the contract is at least 36 months, but the Hub Innovation Chair is expected to establish and develop a financially sound research and innovation unit, which will ensure its sustainability beyond the horizon of the project, with the corresponding opportunity of a permanent contract. For candidates of exceptional quality who wish to maintain their current position while expanding their portfolio of activities, we offer the option of a part-time contract combining on-site presence with home-office work.
