Regional Economy and Development - Bakalár (Bc.) - parl-time

Admission Requirements:

Obtain full secondary education or full secondary vocational education and successful admission process.

The conditions for foreign students are identical to the conditions of Slovak students.

Applicants undergo the admission procedure. The best applicants will be admitted to study according to the results of the admission procedure. The results of the admission procedure are found as the sum of the points obtained for the average result at the secondary school and the points for the individual type of secondary school. The average result at secondary school is calculated as the arithmetic mean of the grades at the end of the 1st to 3rd year of study.

Information about the Programme of Study:

Bachelor study graduates, program of study "Regional Economy and Development", field of study 3.3.5 "Public Administration and Regional Development" are able to systematize and analyse current trends and problems in public administration, regional development, economic and social structure of regions in the capacity of local government. They are able to apply the knowledge with regard to legislation, competences, institutions and economy related to regional development. In addition, they can make use of methods and techniques necessary to analyse factual issues in regional development from the perspective of competences and resources of local government. Thus, they are employable as specialists in organizations and institutions concerned with regional development.

Bachelor study graduates, program of study Regional Economy and Development, gain theoretical knowledge on the way economy and economics work with the special emphasis on regional development.

Graduates gain comprehensive theoretical knowledge on rules related to regional development, conditions of their economic and social development, new trends in regional development, as well as norms and competences from the perspective of local government.

Bachelor study graduates, program of study "Regional Economy and Development", have essential theoretical knowledge in economic, social sciences and humanities to be able to prepare documents, put forward measures and take decisions in organizations and institutions working in regional development.

Graduates are able to utilize theory and assess justify economic feasibility of measures proposed determining regional development.

Bachelor study graduates, program of study "Regional Economy and Development", are equipped with hands-on skills in utilizing methods and tools at regional and local levels. Moreover, they are able to perform technical tasks across divisions in organizations and institutions dealing with regional development.

Bachelor study graduates are able to work on projects related to economic and social development at the respective level of local government. Additionally, they are able to discriminate among individual levels, capacity and competences within public administration. Based on additional knowledge, abilities and skills, graduates can understand and implement factual issues in management teams and utilize up-to-date ICT as well as other systems used in public administration and regional development. 

Bachelor study graduates are able to:

  • understand and implement new trends and reforms in the field;
  • present factual issues and propose solutions;
  • work efficiently in interdisciplinary teams;
  • use ICT in managing territorial and local development,
  • manage their further education in the field,
  • follow ethical and legal rules.
