Public Health - Bakalár (Bc.) - part-time

Admission Requirements:

The completion of secondary school leaving examination is the basic acceptance requirement. Another acceptance requirement is the successful passing of admission test – a biology test in the scope of secondary school subjects.

Information on the Programme of Study:

The graduate of the bachelor study programme Public Health is a qualified health professional with a broad professional profile prepared to independently perform activities in the field of support and protection of health and primary prevention, to perform state health supervision in the field of living and occupational environment and health protection, creation and protection of healthy lifestyle of children and young people and working conditions  at the work places with ionising radiation sources, to perform epidemiological surveillance and resulting professional activities, and to carry out activities in accordance with the principles and concepts of state health policy, and to participate on the fulfilment of the objectives of health promotion programmes and health-educational projects.

In addition to work in the network of regional public health authorities, the graduate of the bachelor´s study programme Public Health can be also employed in occupational health services, in facilities that provide medical and preventive care, as a professional in hospital epidemiology and in the protection of health of employees, but also in higher territorial units; in the health insurance company or in the organs of national admission bodies, local government bodies in the field of health development (creation and implementation of programmes for the active prevention of non-communicable and transmissible diseases such as healthy cities, healthy schools, healthy workplaces). The graduate is able to use the epidemiological method of work and this also allows him or her to apply himself / herself in the field of pharmaceutical companies. The graduate has prerequisites for further study at university, or in the field of specialised, and continuous education.
